Title: Help me about peavey classic 50 Lead channel
Post by: AchiLLeS on October 06, 2023, 03:56:27 pm
Peavey classic 50 410 Lead channel

when the pre is about 5-6, the amp sound is very good, dirty bluesy.

Lead channel sounds very tinny and fuzzy(so much booested trebles) when the Pre is turned up past 5.5-6

for example; preamp is at 8-9, sound has lot's of treble-fuzzy sound.

I put the replacement 12ax7 tubes and result is the same. Normal channel sounds lovely.

Is this the stock design of the amplifier or is there something wrong with my amplifier? I wish there was another peavey classic 50 near me I would try it. But it's not possible.

Go on youtube and search for amp demo`s of your amp.

There's a gain stage with aggressive bass cutting and a bright cap.  This is probably the source of your problem.  I'd be inclined to cut out the bypass cap and the bright cap.  No soldering necessary.
