Title: Homemade Signal Tracer
Post by: dude on October 22, 2023, 03:33:11 pm
Can anyone hook me up with a "few links" on how to "use" a homemade signal tracer. I have a schematic and layout to make one but need more knowledge on how to use it.  I'd like to use the tracer for guitar  amp repair.  Appreciate any advice. I assume you need another amp.

Bottom of the page linked to start, & I recall a marked-up schematic of test point pic floating around too.

I made one recently myself & ended up using it with a Walkman signal, probe into a small SS bass combo. Not enough hands to use a guitar & move stuff around. As for test points, I tried 'em all, grids, plates, caps, etc.

I found there was some nuance to it & expect it will be useful after I get some seat-time.

That's a good link. I downloaded a signal generator to my iPad and plug into the iPad's earphone jack to send a signal to the sick amp. To listen I plug into a cheap Dano mini amp.
