So I've got an IM-10 without a meter (in addition to a couple more that sorta work) and I'm thinking about making a little amp, using existing PT and adding a small OT, with the 12ax7 input and a 6au6 output. No tone control, maybe not even a volume control (thinking a 250k or 500k to ground). I doubt I'll have the room, but thought if I could somehow cram a little 4" speaker where the meter was that'd be cool.
Yes, I know this is not practical, but I don't need another amp. I DO need a project hah. Anyway, thoughts?

Do you mean you want to build somethin similar to this inside that Heathkit ?

For people who don't have all the Heath models memorized:
Heath IM-10 image (https://www.oldtuberadio.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/HEATHKIT-MODEL-IM-10-1.jpg)
That is a 1/4" phone jack. (The Heath VTVM *plug* is special, a variant stereoplug, but the jack is IIRC plain Switchcraft.)
