Title: Powering seperate power amp and pre amps from 1 PT
Post by: Auke Jolman on December 08, 2023, 01:00:28 pm
Hello All,

I'm thinking of building a stand alone poweramp and add 2 or 3 different pre amps to it. All in different chassis stacked on top of each other. I've got a donor PT that has been used in een 100 W EL34 PA amp. It has 2x 6,3 windings. The first rated at 6A and the second at 2A. All in all enough to power everything I would say.

Is there a way that I can safely (and without adding noise) connect it all to that one PT?

Sure. Lots of ways. Here's one example... I only had one preamp. To add others, just duplicate the umbilical cord and plug.

@ Steve: Thanks for pointing out the amp. I saw you used shielded wire for the HT and filament wiring. I guess that was not signal wire?

That's right. The signal wire is also shielded with RG-216.
