Hi all,
First time I’ve posted here. Used the forum a bunch of times for help though.
I picked up an echolette. It was working but needed help.
New pinch roller, cleaned heads.
Replaced as many caps as I could get at. The filter caps were done and a few other electrolytics. Even though the old telefunkin tubes tested fine, I put in brand new ones for testing.
So the problem.
It functions. I get sound and echoes.
This thing is known for being an amazing preamp aside from its tape echoes function. I’m not getting much overdrive even when cranked.
The echoes when engaged sound ok, considering they are reputed as being lush and amazing. They’re a bit fuzzy or almost overdriven sounding. The controls work, and it will oscillate nicely. After a number of mins of playing, not sure how many, 5 maybe, the echoes get more overdriven/fuzzy and quieter. No more oscillation when everything’s turned up and I loose repeats.
If you’ve seen the inside of one of these things, they’re really packed in there, so there’s caps I haven’t been able to get at yet.
Could this be a plate capacitor?
Is this type of fade out typical of a certain type of failure somewhere in the circuit?

Thought attached this, but here’s the schematic
