Title: Bassman Combo w/Princeton Proportions
Post by: tdvt on March 14, 2024, 09:06:39 am
I have now built two Bassman combo cabs, one for an actual vintage Bassman (pics below), the other for a new Hoffman AB763 build.  Both use 1-12"

I have a Princeton Reverb & always liked the height to width proportions, so I used that as a guide for sizing these cabs. The only real semi-glitch is that the speaker has to be quite off-center for OT clearance, but that also tends to balance the amp weight-wise, so not really an issue.

Mojotone offers a Bassman combo cab as a stock item but it is a few inches taller, with proportions looking more like a Super Reverb.

I quite like the using the Bassman chassis as they aren't that long (2"more than a Princeton, 2" less than a Deluxe) but they are the same depth front to back as all the big Fenders; Showman, Twin, etc. which gives extra room which is nice to have.

The deeper chassis also dictates a deeper cabinet which seems to work well for the 12".

Anyway, I thought I would share some comparison pics with the Princeton before this one heads back to the owner, a friend I play with regularly.
