Title: Wooden Boat magazine
Post by: PRR on March 17, 2024, 10:16:52 pm
Wooden Boat magazine, which always looked like a bad business bet, has turned 50 years old. And seems to be doing well. The 50th anniversary cover features an over-powered electric hydrofoil. Inside there is a report on a popular series of iron-keel boats known to be unfloodable, and one recently filled with water (bolt-rot). There's ads for many makers of glues and resins and paints.

I subscribed to it for several years back in the 70's and 80's.  Always well written, well photographed, and dedicated to good craftsmanship.  At a certain point, I realized building, storing, maintaining and actually having the time to use a boat was not going to work out for me so I let the subscription lapse.  But I still read it in the library from time to time, and it is as good as it always was.

A friend built a beautiful western cedar strip canoe back in the '70s. I'm pretty sure he got the plans from an article in Wooden Boats.
