I'm thinking about what to build next, and I've been looking at the Soldano designs. Using the attached picture from Rob R's explanation in the design (and it appears in the "official" Soldano schematics) and I guess I'm not understanding the reason for it. It appears that the switch that selects OD also makes a change in the MV selection, but I don't see why. You select one 1MA pot or the other.
What am I missing?

That's a good idea. The OD signal would be much louder than the normal signal. Having two MVs allows you to match (or set slightly louder) the volume of the OD to the normal.

Just FYI... I've played around with the SLO-type amps some and they seem to have a problem with bleed across the channels. Personally, it drove me crazy and I finally gave up on them altogether. Some people don't seem to mind, and I will be the first to admit that they are fine-sounding amps, but that bleed or ghosting, or whatever it was was more than I could handle.
There's plenty of discussion online about what I'm talking about. I would read up on it and know what to expect before you build the amp.

Thx,
That's pretty much what I'm just starting to do. I need something for a fall project, that gives me some time. I did the AB763 with reverb last winter, the JTM45/2203 selectable front end the year before. We'll see where I head...

OK, I get that... switch and not have to adjust the MV...

Kuehnel's $50 book Soldano SLO has lengthy discussion of the amp, but only a little about the MV. The book may be worth a look but not for MV wisdom.

Yes, I saw that, will certainly make the investment if I head that way.

In that schematic, both MV pots are the same 1MA type. Switching from one to the other wouldn’t make any difference

Say what? Certainly will make a difference. How much depends on the wiper setting.

OIC. Switching between two MV pot wiper settings. Hill Billy ‘ol me.
