Title: 6AQ5 Voltages Univox U80A
Post by: astronomicum on April 04, 2024, 03:59:29 pm
I have finished up a Univox U80A with 6AQ5s. Everything is as expected and sounds very good.

A general question in regards to the 358V Plate and 331V Screen voltages I am getting (250V being typical characteristics for both from the attached spec). Given the same heater voltages and currents compared to a set running 250V, and assuming the pair with the higher voltages do not short or arc (fail), can it be expected that both sets run under the same conditions (same amp) have equal lives? In other words, would the higher voltages alone shorten their useful lives? I would assume not but I am curious.

I would have supposed that the question/answer could have been assumed to apply to any tube. Not important.
