Title: Adding a mid control to a Silvertone 1483
Post by: isaac_teller on April 07, 2024, 07:35:36 am
Hello. Is this possible without reducing the gain(too much)?

Not really.  Most "Mid controls" are the result of a "treble-cut" and a "bass-cut" overlapping to create a "whole-lotta-mid-cut."  So you inherently reduce the amp's gain to cut midrange, then provide a control to give less-cut (which then seems like "boost").

Best way to add midrange control without tinkering the amp is an EQ pedal.  I believe you'd find that scooping those mids will be enough signal-reduction to also reduce amp-distortion.

OK. I guess I can do without it.
