He passed on Wednesday after fighting a 2 year battle with cancer. I built a Bassman 5f6a at his shop under his supervision some time ago. He was a fun guy--I remember he took us all out for Texas BBQ and then on to Austin to check out a band (all playing his amps, of course). The next day after finishing up the amp in his shop we had a big jam session complete with racks of guitars and his amps. Yeah, he was a
salesman and had some controversial ideas but that Bassman still sounds sweet. We will miss him. Jim

Wow, RIP Gerald
I visited Gerald in the 90'sHe was quite the character
Here's some text from that trip
Here we have, starting on the left, Howlin Bob, Gerald Weber, Doug Hoffman and Terry Oubre.
Gerald is actually standing one step down from us, this guy is huge!
I decided to drop by Kendrick on the way back from the Dallas show.
Gerald took us out to lunch to a place where the ladys attend to your every need.
What a guy and what a great chicken sandwich!

Doug, I think you were fortunate to have met Gerald. From all accounts he was a unique and fun character. I learned a lot from his books many years ago when I started in this hobby. I joked about unlearning a bunch of his voodoo beliefs, but since amp building is part science and part art, it was all fun.
Cancer is getting way too many people these days - many of my friends and some of my relatives.
I wish Gerald's family and friends well.
