Ive had a super twin 180 ( non reverb, distortion model. )
It is retubed and recapped but i got no use for it, so tried sell it cheap for a while but no - no one interested.
It has 4 preamp sockets if counting phase inverter, and one for the graphic eq which seems like it could stay.
But has anyone else here completely rebuilt one? Iam thinking about trying simul class A on it, removing followers for the LTP since a normal with right values should have enough output with right values.
So just asking if anyone rebuilt one to something totally different, because of people dont want to buy a fixed up one for ~420euro i thought id might just try create a VHT pitbull type amp out of it. ( know there is no schematics out there for a VHT, but to me it looks like just another JCM type with more options - cathode switching, adding gain stages etc. So yeah maybe can get somewhat close. )
Or if anyone else has a cool idea! Once i built a hiwatt dr103/dr201 i have never craved to use it as it is.
But if i do rebuild and it gets okay then i might even build a headshell atlast so it can be used without combo.
But any input? And simulation class for a x6 tube amp, would that work alright? Or take some of that type of sound away?
