Title: Identity a Revolver Board
Post by: iquester@att.net on April 29, 2024, 09:04:22 am
I hope someone here can help me. I bought the below pictured board from Revolver Amps about 10 years ago or more. Having moved several times, I  never did build it out into an amp. I lost all documentation and am now trying to identify the circuit. I’m hoping you can help since I reached out to an old email address for Charles Prest who originally built the board. But I have had no reply. Any help you can give me would be much appreciated. — Mike Gardner

I'd start here:  https://reverb.com/item/61277892-revolver-amplification-tweed-deluxe-5e3-clone-vintage-jensen-p12q (https://reverb.com/item/61277892-revolver-amplification-tweed-deluxe-5e3-clone-vintage-jensen-p12q)
But I then suggest that you draw out the board with the component values.
From there you can determine if its a standard Fender schematic.

I found a Tweed Tremolux Fender circuit schematic with the attached layout diagram and I looks like maybe that’s it. Any confirmation or other information?  — Mike Gardner

Yes, that's it. Tremolux 5E9-A. The style of that board screams Hoffman style. Nice layout. High quality and neat board. One brown cap has a lead that was never soldered.

cprest is a Hoffman member. He joined in 2006, posted 13 messages, and was last active in 2010.

You can find him at LinkedIn, searching for Revolver Amplification.  Looks like his business is closed, but he should still be around.

One brown cap has a lead that was never soldered.

Seems that the missing soldering is because there will be a wire from that turret to the wiper of the Volume pot

Maybe. But there will be more than 20 more wires connected to the board and the components are already soldered. I rather believe that turret was overlooked.

Mike, If you are anything like me (good luck) and you don't go right to building this amp, you should take a sharpie and write 5E9-A on the board. I cannot count how many times I have set a partially built amp project aside for a few months and then come back and thought, "now what the Hell was I doing here?"
But I hope you do move forward and build it, and keep us looped in. I have never built or played this model but the reports are very enthusiastic. I did build a Gibson GA-18T which is pretty similar - great amp.
Cheers.

Found several boards in the same box from storage. Likely I will post for sale. Can’t build em all.

The board you labeled 5F1 Tweed Champ is actually an AA764 Champ (https://el34world.com/charts/Schematics/files/Fender/Fender_champ_aa764_schematic.pdf).
