I would like to know if there is an octal tube that can be considered as equivalent of the ECC88 ?

The ECC88 is a special beast designed for cascodes I think. Don’t know if you’ll find a workable octal version.


The nearest type of tube I can think of that achieves ‘similar’ performance is a 12AU7, and even that is nowhere near ECC88 performance for cascode operation. Others may have other thoughts/views.
