Title: diodes
Post by: dsones on July 27, 2024, 11:26:22 am
I building a princeton reverb II.  The schematic shows 1Ax800v diodes.  I can't find these anywhere.  Is the 1N4007 diode equivalent?  What diodes should I use?  I have the fender parts list for the amp but the fender numbers don't seem to be connected to anything current.  Thanks

Not equivalent, but will work just fine.

I've read that the UF4007's generate less switching noise, but I've never tried them. I've always used 1N4007's in the few 6V6 amps I've built, because Hoffman and others carry them.

I've been using UF4007 and UF5408 for my last builds. Though I haven't noticed much difference between UF and 1N diodes.

I switched over years back to the UF because their price has dropped down to ~ the same as 1N diodes.

If you get any less noise, great. So why not use them?   :dontknow:
