Title: deluxe reverb II transformers
Post by: dsones on July 27, 2024, 06:49:05 pm
Does anyone know what transformers were used in a fender deluxe reverb II?  Or what transformers would work?  Thanks

Looking at the schematic, it looks like the OT and the choke from a Deluxe Reverb (Not II) would work fine. The PT, is not set up for a tube rectifier though, so it is a little more specific to the amp. Looks like it makes 400VDC B+ with a Full wave bridge.

You need both transformers ???
What's happened to this amp to need 2 xfrms ?

Have a look here ; https://www.tubesandmore.com/products/transformers_chokes?filters=2341a2386c969a845c65a969

I don't have a deluxe reverb II amp.  I'm building a clone of the amp.  I do have a champ II I love but it is missing reverb.

I think the Deluxe  Reverb 2 used the same power transformer as the Champ 2, SuperChamp, and Princeton Reverb 2

Mercury Magnetics has a lower voltage DR PT that might work. You don't have to use the 5vac secondary.  Also a Hammond PT of similar specs would probably work for your build if they have one.
The problem is you need a lower HV PT  somewhere around 275+/-VAC CT and also with a 52VAC bias tap or you'll have to take the bias off the HV secondary and scale it down.
Edcor could build you one for $$$ with all the right specs. It's going to be expensive to build the amp from the ground up so maybe look at used ones for sale. They come and go on Reverb, Ebay, CL etc.

If you are located anywhere near Riverside CA  you could just go buy one, and it has a JBL speaker.     https://reverb.com/item/79098524-fender-deluxe-reverb-ii-2-channel-20-watt-1x12-guitar-combo-1981-1986-black (https://reverb.com/item/79098524-fender-deluxe-reverb-ii-2-channel-20-watt-1x12-guitar-combo-1981-1986-black)

Do you already have the circuit laid out? Going to use turrets or eyelets?  I guess there are some photos of the original circuit layout that would be of great help. I did notice that the DR II chassis is a bit deeper front to back than earlier Fender amps. So that's why I ask what chassis to you intend to use?  Layout is attached., I'm also sure the motherboard is wider than 3.125 inches.

Also wouldn't it be better to keep everything in one post and thread?
