Has anyone built a waveform clipper with a 6bn6, something based on the concept found in the Metasonix TM-5 or Pete Millet's Magic Box?
I've build up an 6ah6 with morph control going into a 6bn6 with a volume and tilt tone control between them in my breadbox.
No go so far... nothing from the 6bn6.
The pot that's going to the grids of the 6bn6 is about as useful as a variac on my whole B+ rail even the 6ah6, and I'm not finding much use in that...
I'm not using a stabilizer like the OA2 in Pete's design, just SS rectified and filtered down to 180v.
I have no idea what Barbour's PS is really like...
In the morning I'm going to isolate the rail nodes closer to Pete's design and see if that gets things going better.
I'm curious if anyone has experience with the topology and perhaps has a bit of insight.

And an article describing the concept is here... (note that in the example grids and plate are on the same node) http://web.archive.org/web/20170430203118/http://www.cgs.synth.net/tube/beam.html

Well I have split the power supply node and the 6bn6 is starting to work better, but I don't think that the 6ah6 is pushing it hard enough and the tilt/volume between the tubes is too much for the 6bn6 so I might switch it out for two 6ak5's with volume/tone between them like in the TM-7.
