Title: Trace Elliot GP11 Front Panel Lights Not Workinig
Post by: dpm309 on October 05, 2024, 01:54:35 pm
I changed out both front panel lights (both were burned out) on a TE GP11 MK V with no success. Did not see any issues with the circuit feeding the lamps. The amp is working like it should but without the front panel lights. I have attached the schematic. I will try to see if the lamps are getting any voltage after I tear it apart again. Any other suggestions?
Thanks, Dan

Pulled the chassis and checked the voltage to the bulbs and am getting about 24VDC. Also, the new bulbs do not look burned out. Will tear down the preamp section to look for any other possible causes.

Turns out it was a bad solder joint on one of the lamps. These amps are a PITA to work on and I must have overlooked it the first time. Takes about 1 hour to disassemble and reassemble.

i looked quickly and got so lost in the schematic I couldn't find the panel lights, did however put the amp on my "say NO fix list"

The lamps were one the first schematic towards the lower right corner. Have been helping out a friend who is always buying old Trace Elliot bass amps. Have worked on several of these over the last few years and these are not built to be serviced easily.
