Title: Funny: EL84? Nah I plugged in 6P6P... Full blown JCM800... Sort of.

Sharing for amusement value.  :l2:

I apparently misread some valves from Ukraine. Plugged them into my EL84 power tube slots.  :anyone:

Couldn't figure out why they were only responding when all knobs were near max - though it sounded like a quiet full-blown JCM800 at that point. Thank goodness the pinouts didn't kill anything - I still am not certain what these valves really are at this point.  :worthy1: Link to 6N6P https://soviet-tubes.com/product/6n6p-double-triode-foton-tube/  or datasheet: https://pearl-hifi.com/06_Lit_Archive/08_Tube_Data/Cons_Data/6N6P_ECC99_Cons_Data.pdf

(They apparently can make 4.8W, but not with -50V of bias...)

Suffice to say I have some EL84Ms on the way (running about 400V from an old Magnavox chassis, so need the 7199-like stats).

Ciao

The 6n6p are fine tubes, only they are the same of ecc99 double triode tube, not el84

Tubes that you can consider as el84 are the 6P14P

Note that there are also special military versions

6P14P - 3000hr
6P14P-V - 1000hr
6P14P-EV - 5000hr
6P14P-ER - >10000hr
6P14P-K - 3000hr and tube is steady against vibration!!!! This tube is very rare.
