it's also interesting if you want to experiment something (but may be more interesting in HiFi use despite the fact in the past there are some examples of active versions also in guitar amps)

Very interesting reading about the origins of the James/Baxandall tone stack.  And Volkoff, the original inventor, came up with it at least a decade earlier.  People always borrow good ideas, same as now.  Plus due le change...
