Title: Suggest 2-band tube EQ for amp! 😊
Post by: daxliniere on November 13, 2024, 05:57:32 am
Hey all,
I just picked up a fantastic little tube reel-to-reel which sounds amazing as a guitar amp. EL34 output, tube rectifier, a bunch of EF86 tubes, and a built-in speaker.

The unit has a pair of high and low pass filters, but I'd like to replace them with boost/cut bell bands. Can anyone suggest some nice, versatile EQ circuits for this? It's all point-to-point under the hood, but I'm happy to make a PCB.

Thanks in advance!
Dax.

Here's a lot of options, complete with their responses https://www.guitarscience.net/tsc/info.htm
My preference is the Vox. The stock version is fed from a cathode follower, increase R IN to about 40k for ECC83 common cathode, or the anode load resistor value if fed from a common cathode EF86.
