Title: YardBirds - Heart Full of Soul
Post by: EL34 on December 28, 2024, 08:45:29 am
I was testing out a Big Muff Fuzz and thought it would be cool using it in Heart Full Of Soul.

This is my new Fender Jazzmaster with the mods listed below.
Mojo Jazzmaster pickups
Fender Deluxe bridge
Switchcraft 12A jack replacing the cheapo jack
Roller string tree for the B and High E strings
White pearl pick guard replaces the stock black pick guard.

Here's the fuzz test on heart Full of Soul

Very Good! I can hear the Ventures saying "Amen"    I wonder how the old Mosrite Fuzzrite would stack up against your Big Muff on that? Be willing to bet Clapton or Beck probably used a Vox tone bender on that.

I remember playing in a club band in the 70's and the keyboard player brought his Mosrite Fuzzrite for me to borrow a while. Also the bass player brought his Big Muff out for me to use. I never owned those for myself but got to try them out. I was using a Univox Super fuzz in those days.

BTW-----Jazzmaster sounds great!!!

Awesome!

The fuzz is super cool but my favorite is the swampy verb drenched surf guitar!

Did you play the bass and drums too?

Thanks,I download the individual tracks and drop them into my DAW
You can buy tracks here

I don't use the guitar tracks and do my own
I like to use the original song from a CD if possible and then use RipX to parse out the individual tracks

I will use the drums and click track from Kareoke-version as a template, add bass, keys, guitar, etc myself. Then I leave only the click from Kareoke-Version and bring in a drummer. Then I bring in a singer. It lets me focus on recording one instrument at time which works best in my small studio. I think I get a pretty good result that way. This lets me put a unique spin on the music in advance of other people coming in so they can see where I'm going with it. I will admit, there are times I left the KV drums because they were well done and I was jazzed over the result and too impatient to wait for a drummer to come over an lay the drums down.
