Title: 6N5P Russian made
Post by: Cliff Rogers on February 28, 2025, 06:56:28 pm
Anybody tried using these in a preamp?
Low gain, approximately 27, twin triode.
Should be similar to a 12AU7 with different heater pin out requirements and the current draw is also higher.

When I want a comparision between russian and USA/EU tubes I go to https://tubes-store.com (https://tubes-store.com)

They sell russian tubes and refer to the correspondent USA/EU tubes

but about your tube, the 6N5P no comparision is made and so I suppose that that tube hasn't a correspondent

Other seller say there is correspondece with some USA/EU tubes but seems odd to me that at tubes-store they ignore that (???)

Judging from data sheet curves, the 6N5P is close to a 12AU7, but not quite the same.

I've never used one because I have no trouble finding a 12AU7 for the rare cases when I need one.

www.radiomuseum.org says the tube is equivalent to 1539 but in different quality class (probably consumer as opposed to military).
