Title: What Happened to PRR?
Post by: scstill on April 11, 2025, 03:52:04 pm
Just read an older post where PRR provided some wisdom (as always)
Realized that I have not seen a post from him for some time (2024)
Anyone know anything?

Regarding PRR, I recall a post last year on his behalf, explaining he wouldn't be around much as he didn't have the energy for it anymore (words to that effect).
I've searched but can't find that post as yet.
His last posting was back in May https://el34world.com/Forum/index.php?topic=31632.msg348445#msg348445
And he last logged on in July.
I hope he's ok.

Regarding Sluckey, I seem to recall a post (maybe the same one as above) in which he would be perusing other interests.
He's stayed active on the TAG forum though  :dontknow:

Here's sluckey's farewell https://el34world.com/Forum/index.php?topic=31909.msg351724#msg351724

PRR was also a frequent contributor on the diyAudio website. He hasn't posted on that website either since about the time he quit posting here. It would be nice if he would just post occasionaly to talk about his current activities or an occasional I'm OK post.

Maybe it's political..? Maybe not!

this site has been very good about keeping poly-ticks in the "other scraps" section, which last time I checked you could just "Mark read" if new posts alert bothered ya.

I "moderated" a Teen helpline for 18 months, it can be soul crushing, I had to walk away just to keep my sanity.
it's one thing to ask n help as users, it's another "level" moderating

well I miss PRR and Sluckey.

Even though they always provided tech wisdom and encouragement
I felt (as many of you did) like we were friends.

BTW- EL34 wrote (in Farewell I think) that SEL49 might be Sluckey
wonder what his middle initial is? "E" maybe
Sluckey profile says age 75, birthed "49" maybe
just sayin....

You could ask him over at TAG, where he still posts comments.

Could you elaborate on what "TAG" stands for..? Is this a forum..?

I was in touch with PRR shortly after he stopped posting here. As a fellow Mainer, I was concerned and curious. As pdf64 stated, he had contributed for a long time, had lost his enthusiasm, and wanted to focus on other things. He is a wealth of knowledge, both on technical issues, and also on history.

You can see what Sluckey is doing these days by exploring his website. Is he here incognito? I hope so :dontknow:

Yup, and it's the cycle of life.

It's funny, I went to the doc some days ago, and she was all of 30yo, just out of residency, and full of energy.

Her lack of experience would have scared me some time ago;  now, I just view it as normal.   I was that person decades ago!

So yeah, our job is to bring others along in the art of guitar tube amps.   I personally think this website is really, really good at doing just that.

I can say PRR is fine, I think he didn't post any more because of other interest (you know how is life), but for sure at the moment is fine and enjoy his dogs
