Title: Low SPL 12" speakers
Post by: bartman on June 12, 2025, 03:19:02 pm
Hey friends,
As an apartment dweller I need to reduce volume without using an attenuator.
Looking for low output 12 inch speakers.
Thanks

Gemini says:
"The Jensen C12R and C12Q speakers are considered among the least efficient 12-inch guitar speakers, with sensitivities of 93.8 dB and 94.6 dB, respectively. The Celestion G12 Van Halen speaker is another example of a less efficient speaker. In comparison, Jensen P12R and P12Q are rated at 95 dB, which is still fairly inefficient by today's standards. Efficient speakers, like the EVM12L, are much louder with the same amplifier. "

But what I say is any 12" (or 10 or 8 or even 6) will not be suitable for apartment playing without turning the tube amp volume way down. I like the Bugera PS1 speaker soak. It is relatively low price and allows driving the amp without being loud.
