Title: How to Print Layout Board in Actual Size
Post by: wsscott on December 04, 2025, 09:03:54 am
I've created a Layout in DIYLC, and would like to print it out in Full, 1:1, size, showing just the Eyelets/Turrets or maybe also the Components, so that I can lay it in the chassis and see how it fits.

Assume the board is 15" x 3.125".  Also assume I only have 8.5 x 11" paper for the color printer.

It must be easy, but this has got me stumped.

Thanks.

paper, tape, scissors, n ruler, mark it cut it, walla!

you don't need the actual layout for "chassis fit" just a blank template will do just fine.

I take my created layout n schematic files to Staples, tell the blue-haired kids to keep aspect ratio the same but make it ?X larger for my actual build

Chop the board in half and tape it together for anything longer than a sheet of paper Print in landscape mode

Doug's method works great, and I use that for planning/designing purposes.  When I need larger printed sizes, you can't beat Fedex IF there is a store near you.

Print to PDF using a large format paper size, then upload the file to Fedex and for a couple of bucks they print large!   Great for schematics as well.

Am assuming you're in the USA - Save as a PDF, take it to FedEx/Kinko's to print on a large format printer.

I typically have them print something in the 24" - 36" range, makes building so much easier.

I usually upload directly to Fedex on their website, spec out what I want -- ie size, type of paper, etc.   Then go in and just pick it up later.  Saves a lot of time waiting in my particular store . . .
