Title: Paper over Holes in Speaker Rim
Post by: Khristophorous on December 09, 2025, 04:51:15 pm
What do you guys do with this? It seems like just pushing whatever fastener through this would set it up to tear later. I was thinking about taking a fresh #11 scalpel blade and taking out a neat semi-circle. I read on some other random forum from a search that this is done as a means to show if a speaker is used or not - or has at least been installed somewhere before.

Don't worry about it, the glue bead (between frame and cone edge) will prevent any tears etc spreading.
Just pushing the bolt through is absolutely fine.
