Title: Design feedback requested - Eclectic Lunchbox Overdrive
Post by: Joel on August 08, 2026, 09:54:22 pm
Hello fine amp people,

I've designed an amp and I'd greatly appreciate some expert feedback.

I'm using older (and cheaper) tubes that don't normally appear in common amp designs.  I've shameless riffed on ideas posted here and over on the Valve Heaven website (thanks Grant for an awesome resource!). Tube compliment is one 6JW8, and two 6M5's for the power amp.  Merlins excellent "Designing Valve Guitar Amplifiers" got a good workout as I was designing the tube stages.

The attached file show 3 versions of the amp.  v0.1 uses a MOSFET as the PI.  V1.1 uses two LND150's for input gain stage and PI, the final version is v1.1 with LND150 FX loop built in.  Power supply uses a SMPS.

I've called this one the Eclectic Lunchbox Overdrive.  Unsure how much overdrive will be going on, but it sure is eclectic.

I'm intrigued.  There is an LND150 in the reverb recovery stage of my newest amp build, and it sound just fine thank you very much.

Hope to see an Electric Lunchbox Overdrive build report in the future.
