What's eveyone's take on the choices:
1) right to the tube socket mounting bolt
2) run a lead back to the preamp grounding point on the PT bolt
3) run a lead back to a preamp ground point on the board or the imput jack
4) your idea here
I built 2 Nighthawk amps with an EF86 in the preamp & grounded them directly to the tube socket bolt with no noticeable noise, but is this the best way?
I'm now building a Clubman & that has an EF86 as the 2nd tube in the preamp (after the tone stack, before the volume) & I'm wondering if it'll be more critical on this build.
Thanks.

I did #3 but #1 would be fine, I think.

I did #2 about an hour ago.

Just thought you'd like to know.

I did #3. It worked quite well in my build.

#1 and #2 are best done in private but #3 works best with a partner.

I built Dougs AC30 (with AX7s) and did #1 and #3 in the same amp... It didn't like either/or... it wanted both.
