Title: Snooks Eaglin dies at 72
Post by: GroundhogKen on February 19, 2009, 12:30:34 pm
Virtually unknown elsewhere, Snooks Eaglin was the Grand Poobah of the New Orleans guitar scene.

He was always one of the first people to pop into my head for those "Name Some Great Guitarists That No One's Ever Heard Of" threads.

I saw him in the mid 80's at the N.O. Jazz Fest and Heritage Fair.

With a completely unique playing style and good voice, he never failed to please a crowd.

I thought he was a great player and enjoyed his stuff alot!  I lived in New Orleans in the late 50's but didn't realize that's where he hailed from?

With respect, Tubenit

Wow, Snooks rips some cool licks.

Never got to see him.

Another great one goes.
