Title: Baby Will 18 watter
Post by: Dynaflow on March 24, 2009, 02:21:24 am
You know, I've been away from a certain 18 watt site mainly cause for a time it was real uptight there. I recently went to look at a layout as I'm doing a 18watt TMB and have like three different layouts. I saw a thread and a guy's site who's doing some pretty neat things on PC boards. He has a board with complete documentation and even drilling template to cut new tube holes and such. I have no connection with this guy or gain nothing by mentioning it, but this little drop in board goes in a Valve Jr head or combo and you replace the OT. It turns that little head into a 18watt lite IIb which in a lunchbox sized head would be a killer for smaller/medium gigs. It appears well laid out. Just thought I'd mention it, judge for yourself (but if you buy do Doug a favor and order the parts here!) http://guitaramplifierpcbs.com . Pretty reasonable and for a beginner it just MIGHT be something they could pull off (although the cutting tube holes and such might freak out some).

Regards,

Dyna

Dyna, can you explain this a little more?
I see pcb but I also see tube sockets.
What exactly is this?

Its a board that is placed into a Epiphone Valve Junior to change it from a single sided 5 watt amp into a 18 watt marshall lite IIb circuit. The tube sockets are mounted on the PCboard and you need to make extra holes in the Valve junior chassis to use it. Its a pretty cheap way to get into a 18watt Marshall type of sound.

Thanks, Dyna
I agree this looks pretty cool, and they're doing a 5E3 and they have a Superlite.
