Title: 'Hoffman' Reverberation Amplifier on eBay
Post by: capnjuan on May 22, 2009, 06:33:35 am
There's a (former) Gibson GA18 on eBay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=200344487812  (not mine / don't know seller / not going to buy it) that has a separate reverb amp stuffed in it:

Seller confirmed that the tag says "Hoffman' (no; didn't think to ask about model #  >:( )  Has no tank.

Never seen one of these ... don't believe it's 'factory fitted' the way seller says.  There is a Hoffman Audio here: http://www.hoffmanaudio.com/HA-reverb.html but don't think it's 'our' Doug Hoffman ... is it?

Anyone know anything about these?  Could be a kind of missing link between factory / outboard spring reverb and the first reverb pedals ... does the echo echo echo electronically, no?

Half the people named "Hoffman" or "Hoffmann" started electronics companies.

This one may be these guys, long-time small-players in radio/audio (first US company to sell transistor radios), sold out in 1977, went into video.
