Title: 4 ohm amp into a 2 ohm Speaker load?
Post by: jerryjg on June 08, 2009, 08:11:32 pm
Got this nice 4x10 2 Ohm  cabinet sounds really ducky with this 4 ohm tube amp. I like the way this 2 ohm load makes the 4 ohm amp break a sweat. Can i pound the living Sh*t out of this cabinet with my 4 oHM amp day after day?

Vintage Sunn 100S ~60 watt Tube amp. 2x Kt88.
Running into a 4x10 tweed  Bassman Cabinet with four  Mojotone Jensen Replica alinico tens wired up  at a 2 ohm load.
Thanks.

Two KT88 at 60W is a pretty wicked amplifier. Unlike a self-bias amplifier, it is capable of hurting itself trying to make 120 Watts in half-impedance.

What do you think will tank first?  Tubes or OT?
