Title: Part Sources for 5-String Bass
Post by: Shrapnel on June 18, 2009, 12:49:45 am
Where's the best place to get some needed parts to fix up a bass?

This is a (cheap) Rogue 5-string bass that needs at least two machine heads replaced, nuts for the volume pots, and knobs for the volume pots and tone controls. Forked out $20.00 for it, and figured it would be a decent fixer-up for  my oldest daughter to noodle and learn on. It looks a lot like the Rogue LX205B Series II, except the bridge is different (but very similar), and the branding is on the body and pickups and not on the neck. (LX205B Series 1?)

The PU's do seem to work, and right now is strung as a 4-string (but the E string's machine head has been jury rigged and will slip if not careful)

www.allparts.com

www.stewmac.com

www.wdmusic.com

www.lmii.com

Those are the basics, and should get you started.  There is also your friendly neighborhood repair shop, where I at least frequently have all the stuff you are after, or can get it for you.  I may not be in your neighborhood, but their may be a good shop near you.

I think I was using "5-string bass machine heads"... maybe a little too specific then.
