Looking for opinions here. Will go into a DRRI conversion with a Hoffman AB763 6V6 board,Mercury Magnetics transformers and the original chassis and cabinet.Looking for a warm and articulate sound that won't fart out with all the bass response of the circuit.
Not sure if they will fit, haven't yet measured, but I think that 2 10" speakers would sound tighter in this amp. With that in mind, how much clearance do I need around the speakers to mount 2?

I've got a 2x10 baffle in mine with two Eminence Legend 10516s in it and I love it. Sorry, I don't know the spacings and such, but it can be done and it sounds great.

You likely prefer a brighter sound--I use a Tone Tubby 12' ceramic in my Hoffman DRRI. 10"'s sound
"boxey" to me. TT's have an chimey articulate breakup (rated at only 40 watts) that leaves lots of air between the notes. The TT ceramics are bright but no icepick. No flubbage either--bass can be turned up to 10. Thats my opinion. Jim

Do you have the standard values in the resistor and capacitor compliment?Or any tweaking?I really don't prefer a brighter sound, but I am tired of the bass flatulence that is present with all three of the 12" speakers I currently own.The Jensen reissue that it came with,an Eminence Legend GB12,and an Eminence Red,White and Blues. The latter is better that the first two but it still has the farts.

What did you use to make your baffle board?

There is one tone mod--I used one of Gerald Weber's OT's:
http://kendrick-amplifiers.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=KOS&Product_Code=KEN0602-Tran-2112AHR&Category_Code=0602
It makes the amp clear sounding-not necessarily louder as he hypes -- You tone stack suddenly can't deliver the ultra highs and super lows. There is no squeeze at the OT--It is like a big tone stack sump. You will operate your tone stack 50% higher than you had previously. I like it--don't get me wrong it is not an unpleasant sound but its not a Fender sound. There is definately less breakup and somehow all your guitars suddenly sound real different from one another--like they have their own personality. The Tone Tubby adds the breakup at hight volume. It's a plywood board, 5/8" IIRC. I ordered the cabinet with a 2x10 baffle from JD Newell.

I've been through half a dozen speakers in my '65 NR Blackface Deluxe. As it stands now the Cannabis Rex is king in this thing. Surprisingly the other speaker that sounded good in it is a stock Legend 125 @ 50 watts that came out of a Hot Rod Deluxe. Weber silver bell alnico was smooth, but lacked character. ROLA Lead 80 sounded good, but too much clean headroom. TT Ceramic didn't sound as good as the C-Rex & I like my hemp cones.

I use a Carvin GS12-75-8 in my DR and love it. Great for all different kids of music. Good all round speaker.

I just put a Hellatone in my DR - seems counterintuitive but I really like it.

I put two Weber 10A125 and two 10F150-T speakers in a Super Reverb build and there was NO flatulence. The Vibrato channel was almost dead stock. Not saying that's the only answer, but two 10" speakers with somewhat different characters adds something to your tone IMHO. You also would have about 40% more cone area if I remember basic geometry correctly...
Cheers,
