Title: Go Johnny Go A Go Go
Post by: Dynaflow on July 29, 2009, 10:27:02 am
Chuck in the 60's on a go go show...   Sloppy and raw, but a honest performance and more go go dancers since we're on that rip lately..

Dyna

Ps: Dig the funky crunch tone he was getting though, pretty cool.

Wow, kind of rare to see someone playing live back then.
Everything was lipsynced usually.

Fun to watch the dancers.
They all look like they have ants in the pants

Yeah, thats true! Most stuff as you say was badly lipsynched. I hadn't even really thought about that. At the end is Trini Lopez coming out, there's another clip following this one of them doing one of chucks tunes together (that was a thrill)

Way back when I used to stay up late on Friday and Saturday nights to watch Midnight Special, Rock Concert, and In Concert - I seem to remember Chuck being on MS and Tom Jones was the host.  They did a number together that was absolutely horrid!!!  I've got it on cassete somewhere around here, with countless more hours that I recorded off the tv.  They each took a verse and then Tom attempted to sing harmony with Chuck.  I think Chuck may have intentionally screwed it up so Tom sounded really, really bad!  However, Tom's Vegas-style did not sound good on his solo verse either!

More useless trivia....Ritchie Blackmore played on Tom Jones' first and second records back in the early 60's.

I may be totally misinformed about this but it seems like I read somewhere (once upon a time) that John McLaughlin play in the pit band for the Tom Jones TV show back in the 60's.  Strange World
