I've been keeping an eye on eBay for quite a while now, waiting for my moment (and for the funds to be available). After a series of gigs/lessons, I had some money in my music/electronics fund, and I saw an opportunity: A brand new 60 Mhz scope for $99. No one else bid on it, probably because it was an obscure brand: Rapid Electronics, a UK-based company. A little research revealed that the scope was a re-branded B&K -- their 2160a. Came with new probes and everything. The seller had a history selling scopes, and it had a 7-day money back guarantee -- 2 things I considered essential. I have no interest in an "as-is," no-returns scope. I got it a couple of weeks ago, and kept waiting for the other shoe to drop -- like it didn't work, or had a major problem. But no, it seems like a good scope, that had never been used. I know that 60 Mhz is way more than I need for most audio, but I'd like to do a little radio work too.
Another "toy," as my daughter refers to my test equipment.

Also picked up one at the equiv of $8.00:
Iwatsu SS 7606 from work. Sending it off to local specialists to have it checked out. Even if I have to spend a few bucks on it. it's still a bargain.

I'm looking at scopes, too (as the next step in my amp tool arsenal), but would like to know what is a good brand scope for a non-"pro". Just a nice basic tool that's fairly simple to use. Any special features I should look for? Thanks,
Mike

Tektronix is a great brand. B&K is not too bad. 2 channel is nice to have. 20Mhz is way more than enough. Make sure it has a nice sharp trace, and the screen is not burned. Get it with probes that are 1X and 10X switchable.
I picked up a Tek 2246 for $100 - which is a great scope. It displays the voltage and frequency on the screen, which is mucho handy. 4 channels (which I rarely use).
