 ive read posts saying ac30's, run the heck out of power tubes,what plate voltage does a typical ac30 run?

 I'd like to think 325V is the norm, but I bet some of them run as high as 340V or worse. The only reprieve is that you get to subtract the 10v-12v cathode voltage

Not only that, but real AC30s have the tubes buried inside the cabinet with just a couple of skinny vents.

It's a true torture chamber for EL84s.

 I've always wondered why it is so high.
Is that what it takes to get that Brian May, compressed, sustained sound?
What would it do at a relatively sane 280V?

 i think so, my spitfire is running the tubes at 352 volts but it sounds fabulous.
