Title: Oscilloscope tips
Post by: antieatingactivist on December 02, 2009, 10:48:59 pm
Can anyone point me to a resource for using an oscilloscope on tube amps? I'm not really sure what things like parasitic oscillations, crossover distortion etc... look like.

Aiken amps - crossover distortion:  http://aikenamps.com/CrossoverDistortion.htm

Here is a pic of what parasitic oscillation might look like.  I had to mock it up a bit, but it gives the right idea.

Thanks the most adorable oscillation I've ever seen.

Tone Lizard http://tone-lizard.com/Oscilloscopes.htm (http://tone-lizard.com/Oscilloscopes.htm) has a good intro and some good links too.

Speaking of scopes, has anyone ever run a sine wave through their effects chain to see what they are doing to the waveform? Thought it might be interesting...
