Title: Weber speakers
Post by: duke of earl on December 27, 2009, 08:42:00 pm
I just ordered a 12F150W ceramic from Weber to experiment with a prototype amp I am building. I like the alnico cali-12's I used in my first build a lot. Anyone use this model speaker in their builds yet? Open back vs. closed back?

I don't know about the W on the end of 12F150?  However, I had a 12F150 Weber and liked it. Very clean tone with very little breakup.  A good amp for a clean AB763 tone.

With respect, Tubenit

I currently run a Weber 12F150(50w) in a 2x12 tweed cab with a Weber Blue 30 watt(light dope) ceramic.

I ordered the 12F150 without dope.

I played an original C12N and loved it was the sweetest damn speaker Ive ever laid ears on!
It wasnt mine though.
The original didnt have dope and was a 50 watt, so that's how I ordered Mine from Weber.

Its barely broke in, or maybe it isn't? I think its close. I run it at shows but have kept it covered up with My pedal board bag waiting for it to fully bloom. Man it threw some ice picks the first few hours!

I like the 12F150. So far its got big bass and the mids are full, not scooped all that much. Its has a very defined sound. It sounds way different than its neighbor the Blue Dog.

Ive had The Blue dog for a couple years and its My go to 12.

I'm hoping once I uncover it that it with play nice with the Blue Dog.

I'm looking forward to hearing it. It arrived earlier this week but it will be a while before I get the amp finished and fire it up. Manic, is yours ceramic or alnico?

Both speakers are ceramic.

Even the Bluedog huh. I will probably order one of those next for some comparative testing.

The 30 watt Blue still breaks up real nice despite having a ceramic magnet.

The Blue has exhibited a touch of flub at the extreme bottom end, say around 60hz as compared to the 12F150 50 watt. The mid/low mids are much fuller with the 12F150 as compared to the Blue Dog.
