Title: Baffleboard Studs

I'm constructing my own baffleboards and was wondering what you guys use as studs to secure the speaker to the wood?

Thats the PE link. Mcmaster-Carr has them too. Add a little PL as you're pulling them into the wood and they won't go anywhere.

I assume that either product is inserted on the speaker side of the baffle and a stud is threaded into them.

It will pull out.

Imagine bolt and nut. Works solid, but the nut sticks out. Replace nut with T-nut, it is flush, use a shorter bolt to not-quite come through the T-nut.

Your'e right PRR, what was I thinking(just wasn't I guess). Nut on grille cloth side and then add stud and then the fastener to speaker frame. Thanks a bunch. How are you BTW?

T-nuts tend to thrash the wood a lot more than hurricane nuts. I've used both and unless you have a lot of wood to dig into, meaning at least an inch of lip- the plys will be crushed and will splinter. I recommend socket head truss or 'cheese-head' screws if the frame will allow. If the screws are being driven in from the front (cone) side, sometimes socket head cap screws work better with limited space in the gasket holes. Another method is using clips. Some people swear by clips- especially for subwoofer duty, but for guitar work, hurricane nuts and #10 screws (allen head) are fine. Use Allen head screws because one slip of the screwdriver will ruin your whole day :cry:

My favorite is the speaker mounting screw - with a small section of reverse thread near the head to grab the baffle board.  But mostly I cheat and countersink a triangle-head stove bolt into an undersized hole in the baffle board.
