Hi guy's
I'm almost done building a 5F2-A in a head cab for a great friend, has a stancore OT marked 4000 primary and 8 ohm secondary
I am building this as a gift and he's since seen it before it's done and has asked that I build a speaker cab with it also.
catch is he's pretty much decided the speaker cab's dimentions for me (has to fit between his bed and a night stand and put the head at such a level yada yada yada)
OK so the inside measurments on the speaker cab is 12 1/2" tall 16 1/2" wide 7 3/4 deep.
carcas is made from 3/4 baltic birch and the speaker baffle is 1/2 baltic birch , the back is 2 pieces of 1/2 baltic birch that I'll decide later if I want a closed back, ported or open back
SO with that information, what size speakers would you reccomend, I've considered 2x8 either 16ohm parallel or 4 ohm series, 1x10 or maybe a 12?
I think a 12 in a box that small would sound boxy, I could be wrong
any help here would be a Godsend to me
Thanks

looks like you're on the line between 8 and 10 (without knowing Q and V values for the speaker you want to use).
i'd go with a 10. i've not been impressed with many 8's as a stand-alone speaker.

I guess I was thinking about the same thing, a 10" would be better.
it's just I HAD two great little 8's until I stuck my thumb thru the cone of a 1968 CTS while trying to catch it as it fell off my bench, seems the srewdriver was kind of stuck to the magnet :embarrassed:.
so I started looking for a replacement online and realized I could get a decent single 10" for about the same cost.
so I suppose I needed the nudge to abandon my original faulted plan
thnx

I have a 10" Eminence Ragin' Cajun in an old Marshall cab (Micro Stack). It sounds great and only costs about $65-70. It's rated at 70 watts and I think 100db SPL. I'm building a 1x10 detuned cab for it right now and that'll make it sound even better!
