OK, aftermuch deliberation, I have decided on and have started my 5C3 build.
Currently, I have the eyelet board completed...

I have most all of the parts collected, including a complete set of NOS Tung-Sol tubes...

As of now, I am looking for an authentic reproduction of a Tweed Deluxe TV Front cabinet to bring it all together.

I keep posting as I make progress.

Those glass Tung-Sol's are sweet. I found a local guy who was retiring and moving to Florida. He had 24. I bought them all for $4 each. I've got just enough left to build a couple more amps. The 5C3 is my favorite Deluxe. Sings like a violin!

Wow, that is a clean looking board! Great job. Post more pics when the wiring is done.

OK... It's been a while since I've updated on my 5C3 build. Here's the completed chassis with all components installed and wired.
I ordered an authentic repo of a Fender Tweed TV Deluxe from Gregg Hopkins at Vintage Amp Restorations to house the chassis. It's been some time since I ordered it... Hopefully I will receive it soon as I look forward to completing this project.
This 5C3 is wired just as Leo did it. The volume controls are affected by one another quite a bit... I'm not sure I understand how they interact exactly. Any input is appreciated.

Very nice work!
The volume controls work like this:They affect the other channel for sure, but try this:put the bright channel up to about 10 or close to it and put the normal channel to about 5.Then plug into each input and see what it does for the tone.
If you find that the normal channel is a bit dark, jumper the channels with a patch cord and turn the volume controls until you find the right amount of presence.
Then try this:Turn your volume on the bright channel up high enough to break up real nasty and turn your guitar volume down. You get some pretty insanely good cleans. But if you put a high pass filter on you guitar's volume control,as you turn it down it retains the highs and the cleans are incredible.
The tone control is ok for each channel but it adds gain as it gets higher and it is marginal at best. The way to get all the tone your amp has to offer is get that high pass filter on your guitar.

Thanks Pshyconoodler!
I will give this a try. I do wonder if this tonestack design was deliberate or was it an anomaly.
When I get the cabinet, I'll post more pictures.

If I understand Leo's saving ways, it was a cost-cutting measure with fortuitous side effects.
Beautiful work!
