Howdy,
Here are drawings I made during recent renovations of a (real) 1967 Dual Showman and a (probably knock-off) 2x15 Dual Showman speaker cabinet.

Thanks. Thats what I thought. A main baffle in the meddle so it's like two 1 15 cabinets put together. What is the sonic advantage in that? Not much insulation...just in the back? Poplar, not pine?

I think the main idea of the baffle in the center is to keep the big "box" from having a large, perhaps sub-sonic resonance. The sound absorber felt like insulation material to me, and was stuffed between the baffles on the back and glued between the front and back braces on the sides, top, and bottom. Nothing on the front. The "poplar" was my own choice. To get dry, knot-free pine of those dimensions, I would have to spend almost as much as for poplar, and I use a lot of poplar for other projects and like the way it machines (for the dovetails, especially).
