Title: Cabinet corners
Post by: duke of earl on March 27, 2010, 09:17:26 pm
I just performed my first tolex job on a 4x10 speaker cabinet. I am looking for some corner trim that is not rounded. I don't want to file the corners to make the trim fit if ya know what I mean. Yall know where I might find some of these?

If you've got a router you can use a roundover bit on the cabinet edges - 1/2" or 3/4". sure makes things easy and then the metal corners fit too.

If you hunt around you can find corners that can fit square boxes.  They use em for PA cabs.  I saw them one time when googling for speaker box and amp parts.

thanks tubesornothing. I have already tolexed the cabinet and don't want to mess it up.

The ones I am referring to go on **after** the tolex job. Rather than a radiused corner, they are a square corner, like you see on the PA cabs, and some amps like roland.

Do you know of any sources for the square corners?

I saw them while googling around.  Cant recall the site, just search (and search and search) on google, you'll find them.

Check reliablehardware.com - some of the "Medium Road Case Corners" look pretty square (non-radiused) to my eyes.

Try renovator and restorer suppliers.

Van Dykes also has trunk handles, what a Tweed should have:

They also have woven cane, a traditional grille-stuff; and the groove-split used to put cane-weave on chairs nice and pretty (instead of bent-behind and stapled like most speaker grilles).
