Title: Modern jazzy minor tune
Post by: stratwrassler on April 13, 2010, 03:09:03 pm

Here's my version of a recent aat (add a track) from the gang at wholenote.com

In case the soundclick doesn't work for some people, I'll try and also post it on the mixcraft site asap.

It's a bit different than my usual blues stuff.  Played through a Princeton Reverbish combo I built, close mic'd and line mixed.

Rico,

Been a while since I've seen you on the forum.  I liked the tune. You did a good job with it. Sometimes playing slower with more space and with feeling can be more challenging and you did a nice job with that. Has a little Larry Carlton feel to it in places.  It is a different feel than the blues stuff you've done, but you pulled it off. Very tasty.

It sounded quite good with the clean tone, but I would like to hear a version that has more mids (vs. mid scooped) and a little overdrive in it.

With respect, Tubenit

Thank you both.  Ephasizing the slow tasty bits with good tone seems to be my pocket.  Can't get my fingers to do much of what they used to speedy chops wise, but then again I really don't practice or woodshed anymore either.

I drop by and lurk some here, just haven't had much to post lately.  Been busy working on my "real" CD with a human drummer and bass player and trying make a living to pay bills and keep my son in college.  I have a 6 tune EP ( You can search for "Rico's Gruv" to find it if you want ) up on iTunes and Amazon, working on 6 more tunes for the full CD.

I still can't get that link to Tubenit's T-lite demo to bring up anything other than a generic Soundclick page.  What's your artist name on Soundclick?, maybe I can search for it that way, I seem to be able to play other stuff there.
