Shoot... I was hoping some other Texas forum members might chime in.  I'd bet the price of admission ($3.00) that both Jim and John will be there selling tubes.  We did pretty well last time around on misc. other thangs too.  ISO you drive cuz my tires are worn.  Lunch is on me.

That was really about the strangest Ham Fest yet.  The overall haul was pretty good.  There was a guy there with $1.00 tubes.  I did very well with 12AU7's and 12AT7's.  I did buy a couple that were gassed and a couple that were mislabeled, but at a buck apiece for NOS glass, I'm not gonna whine too much + it's my own fault for not opening each and every box.  My catch of the day was a $5.00 NOS very old Westinghouse 12AX7.  ISO found some really nice glass for $4.00 ea but I was cashed out by then.

So we ventured pass this 1 young fella and he had a ton of cool stuff.  ISO and I are going to town.  I found a really nice stereo 6BQ5 amp carcass.  I didn't want it because I was grabbing parts.  Some other guy picked it up, took it to the seller to purchase and the guy told him, "Oh I don't want to sell that, I'm gonna put it in my car."   ISO had found 3 - Stancor Mic to Grid transformers and I was green w/ envy until the seller told him, "I'll sell you 1 but not all 3.  I need those."  ISO looked perplexed when he asked the dude, "Is this stuff for sale or what?"  I had a roll of Teflon tubing to which he said, "I'm really partial to my Teflon, I can only sell you a couple of feet."  At that point I put back everything except for a silly little $5.00 filament transformer.  That guy blew about $200.00 to $300.00 worth of sales in the 10 minutes I was at his booth.  ISO coined the term, "Seller's Remorse."

Lunch was at Rudy's BBQ, not no stinking McDonalds.

Sounds like that seller was just "displaying" his stuff, not selling it!  What a dipstick!

Honestly I didn't notice, but truth be told I kinda avoid the "main" section because I'm not a ham.  I mainly go to visit the tail-gaters.  Cheap old tubes -n- stuff.  There was a big table jam packed with RF test equipment so it mighta been them.  I'm still quite dumbfounded by that one fella.  Why would he load up all that stuff, drive to Belton, pay $30.00, and then refuse to sell the cool stuff?   I'd be the pot calling the kettle black if I said I didn't have the pack rat disease, but I try not to display it publicly (beyond this here forum... ahem...)   :angel
