I have a Fender Deluxe here that has no place on the chassis where a OT has ever been mounted , any one have any idea which deluxe this is?
-
Early models were fitted with a speaker/output transformer combo.
Cf. this "Woodie" Deluxe model 26, ca. 1947, the OT is basket-mounted on the left of the magnet.

where there any 5a3's or 5b3's setup this way?
-
All the models in my docs have a chassis-mounted OT. But Fender could also have used basket-mounted OT's in some batches and for one-offs...
Have you got some pictures of this Deluxe?
-
Well I don't know if you can tell much fron these the only camera I have is on my phone.
