Title: Boss GT-8
Post by: mrr3000gt on June 04, 2010, 11:32:48 pm
I picked up one of those Boss GT-8s a couple of months ago: pretty slick. I have a few friends that use them and they work well for the working gigging musician. I am an analog guy, but I got to admit it is pretty good. I have a high-end amp I am attempting to use it with, but it takes the fine tone and converts it into something non-organic, but still cool.

Well, that did not last long: I sold the GT-8 as I got tired of the artificial sounds it made. It is a tweakers effect, as people who own these are always twisting knobs to get sounds out of it. Thats not for me.

Good for you.  I compared the Digitech, Boss, TC electronics and the Line6 M9.  Only the TC could do distortion any good (it has analog distortion), however its a one trick pony. Ultimately none of them can do a good job as nice analog units.  I settled on the M9 as a goto box when I need quick effect for a single song or two.  But for the important stuff I use a lot, I keep going back to the seperate pedals, or right to the amp (e.g. blues dirt is best from my amp).
