I could not believe it.
Got up to turn on the coffee, looked at the thermometer outside on the porch
55 degrees in Western NC
Opened up the door, had coffee on the porch and had to put on a flannel shirt.
What did you northerners have?
PRR must have had 50??

It was about 55 in Chicago this morning. Quite a pleasant change to be honest. We've had tornado roll through here in recent days, and lots of humidity.
-
Nice!
Humidity is not horrible here yet.
Yesterday = Hi was 76% - low was 56%
-
I'll gladly trade you!
It's been 116-120 here. It's a little cooler today (more like 100) because of a nasty dust storm we're having that's blocking the sun.
Imagine fog in San Francisco that reduces the visibility to 300ft. Except there's not enough moisture here to make fog (and the temperature isn't right), so the same effect is occurring from a mass of dust in the air. Just generally nasty here.

I don't care where you are, 100 degrees doesn't count as cooler  ( i hate the heat, even if dry).
-
Sorry, I like living where there are dense hardwood forest and a thick tree canopy.
Out west is nice for visits, but I don't care for desert climates
IMO, the single species Aspen type forest in Utah and Colorado are pretty, but it's not as nice as the eastern forest that have 100's of types of trees and a huge variety of plants.
Anywho, most people that live in dry arid climates come here and think they are going to die once the trees start creating water droplets and the humidity levels get cranked up.
Humidity and heat combo can be a bit oppressive.

I'm with you Doug!
I've lived in NC most of my life. The summer humidity is rough at times, but I prefer the greenery.
I just happen to be in Tikrit, Iraq right now... I didn't like the american southwest desert before (but not always bad; there are some beautiful parts). But after being here for nearly a year, I just want to get back to where green stuff grows again!
-
Man, who can blame you.
The desert has lots of life. People tend to think deserts are devoid of life forms, but it's a really cool eco system
Problem is, it's just so hostile.
It feels like I am being cooked and there is no where I can go to escape the torture.

Amen.. The desert is actually really pretty in the spring, lots of stuff blooming. We're getting a real late summer here, went from the 80's to I think today is supposed to be like 112, doesn't feel quite that hot, can't much over 105... :violent4:

I'm NOT going to tell my wife of that overnight forecast. It was a mistake to tell her of the 55 weather too. She loves cooler temps, especially after moving here from New Mexico to ARkansas and experiencing hight temsp (low 100's in the summer) AND high humidity. I grew up with fairly high humidity and 90's the norm for summer highs, so I can be fairly comfy parked in front of a fan on a day like that. But she has to have the AC cranked up.
[ edit ] She is Glad though we don't live in Phoenix though.

54 degrees here this morning.
Opened up the house doors, turned on the whole house fan and sucked in all that nice cool air.

Nice!
Was quite cooler here a few days in a row
Saw 58 F a couple mornings this week.
4th of July was way cooler here than past years.

Well, it's about two weeks after the original post, philadelphia has been really hot and gross. Last summer I ran my window unit one night, it's been on almost every night this month.
-
The last few days here have been very humid and hot.
Not as bad as other places, but hot enough for me.
I go outside and my glasses instantly fog up.

It's 82 here today. Feels like paradise compared to the last solid month!
